The Role of ICT in the recent history: Yolanda People Finder


One of the world’s strongest typhoon happened on November 8, 2013 in the Philippines wherein a lot people died, lost their homes, families and their happiness.

Despite of the very strong typhoon Yolanda, people stand and didn’t give up. They help packed relief goods enable to help all the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.

Regardless of government rescue and relief efforts before and immediately after Yolanda. The government give respondents of a total of 4500 Armed Forces of the Philippines troops and essential personnel were placed on red alerts.


Through online platforms, people posted calls for help, survivors let the world know they were safe, and photos and videos were posted to describe the situation on the ground, and help plan relief efforts.




Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has contributed a great role in our society. The Yolanda People Finder was a vital tool for people across the globe to track the situation of their relatives.




It unites and reconnects people from all over the world. And as a part of a society in this generation, we depend on technology able to gain the charity we need and a voice to spread the news to our relatives and loved ones.

For what we have learned, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) isn’t just about learning the definitions and functions of technological devices but how these devices help in communicating people and gives important information about our society.
